Community Access, Daily Living & Transport
"Practical support for everyday life, independence and getting out into your community."
What does this support involve?
Everyone needs different things from their support.
You might want help getting out more, keeping on top of everyday activities, attending appointments, trying something new or becoming more confident doing things for yourself.
Our support workers can provide practical assistance at home and in the community, based on your needs, preferences and NDIS goals.
The NDIS can fund supports that assist with everyday activities and help people participate more independently in their community and personal interests.
How can we support you?
Depending on what you need, we may support you to:
- shop for groceries and other everyday essentials
- prepare meals and build everyday living skills
- organise everyday tasks and routines
- attend appointments and important activities
- get out into the community and try new activities
- take part in hobbies, social activities or community groups
- spend time with friends or build new social connections
- practise skills that help you become more independent
- get to activities, appointments or other places you need to go
- work towards the everyday goals that are important to you.
Support can look different from person to person. You might need hands-on assistance with something, someone to do it alongside you, or encouragement while you build the confidence to do more yourself.
How we work with you
The right support worker can make a big difference.
We take time to understand your personality, communication style, interests, routines, support needs and any personal or cultural preferences that are important to you.
We use this information to help find a worker who is a good fit, not simply whoever is available.
Once support begins, we focus on consistency, clear communication and following through. We also want you to feel comfortable telling us if something is not working or if you would like your support to change.
Your support should work around you. We respect your choices, your routines and the way you prefer to do things.
Getting around
If getting out and about is part of your agreed support, your support worker may be able to help you travel to appointments, activities, shopping or other places in the community.
How transport is provided and funded depends on your NDIS plan and the support arrangements agreed with you.
We will explain any transport arrangements and costs before the support begins.
Funding and getting started
The support we can provide will depend on your NDIS plan, your goals and the type of support you need.
