About Us
Our story

My ResponsAbility grew from years of experience working in community services, where we saw the difference thoughtful, consistent and respectful support can make. Our early work was strongly shaped by supporting people with psychosocial disability and people navigating complex service systems. This reinforced the importance of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed support grounded in dignity, choice and respectful relationships.
While that experience shaped who we are, My ResponsAbility was created to support people with a broad range of disabilities, goals and life circumstances. Our name reflects our belief: we have a responsibility to provide safe, ethical and reliable support, while always recognising each person’s ability, strengths, rights, choice and control.
Our purpose

My ResponsAbility exists to stand alongside people with disability through support that is tailored, compassionate and human — supporting each person’s goals, choices, connection and independence in ways that matter to them.
Our mission

To provide thoughtful, reliable and person-centred support by taking the time to understand each person, matching support carefully, working collaboratively, and following through with care, consistency and accountability.
Our vision & values

Our vision
A future where people with disability can access support that is respectful, reliable and genuinely centred around their rights, choices, goals and connection to community.
Our values
- Compassion. We lead with heart, approaching every person with empathy, kindness and respect, and taking the time to listen and understand.
- Integrity. We do what we say. We are honest, transparent and accountable, and we take responsibility for our decisions and actions.
- Empowerment. We support choice, control and self-determination, working alongside each person’s goals and preferences and supporting independence in ways that are meaningful to them.
- Inclusion. Everyone belongs here. We respect each person’s identity, culture, communication style, relationships and life experience.
- Collaboration. We work as a team alongside participants, chosen supporters, providers and community partners so support is connected and practical.
- Excellence. We keep learning by reflecting on our practice, welcoming feedback and improving how we work over time.
How we work

Our values guide how we show up in every conversation, every plan and every moment of support. We start with you: every person brings their own story, strengths, goals and circumstances, and we shape support around your life rather than applying a template.
We practise with compassion and curiosity, bringing a trauma-informed and respectful lens to our work. We understand that trust takes time and that support works best when people feel heard rather than judged. We build on strengths, focusing on capacity, resilience and what is possible rather than defining people by what is difficult.
We show up consistently by doing what we say we will do, communicating clearly when circumstances change and staying present through both the simple and more challenging parts of support.
Our culture

Good support starts from within. We treat everyone with respect and compassion, learn from every experience, and grow together as a team. We communicate openly, take responsibility for our work, and support each other to provide safe, thoughtful and person-centred support.
Our commitments

Our commitment to disability rights
My ResponsAbility recognises people with disability as rights-holders, with the same human rights and fundamental freedoms as everyone else. We are committed to dignity, autonomy, choice and control, supported decision-making, privacy, safety, inclusion and full participation in community life.
We aim to ensure that each person is listened to, provided with information they can understand, involved in decisions affecting them, and supported in ways that respect their identity, preferences, culture, relationships and goals.
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion
My ResponsAbility welcomes people from diverse cultures, communities, identities and life experiences. We respect each person’s culture, language, faith, gender, sexuality, family, relationships, values and beliefs.
We ask what is important to each person, adapt our communication and support wherever reasonably possible, and work with interpreters, advocates, family members or other chosen supporters with the person’s consent. Everyone should feel safe, respected, included and able to be themselves when receiving support from us.
